What you will find here is a community-inspired family medicine clinic where you have direct access to a doctor who knows you, is there when you need your doctor, and helps you learn about health in a variety of creative ways that extend past the walls of the exam room and into the community. I thank our community members for their inspiring ideas to help grow this clinic and make it possible. As far as I know, it's the first of its kind on the Olympic Peninsula!
As a family doctor, I take care of people of every age and every body type. My intention is to provide you with outstanding and compassionate care in your basic primary care needs. This includes preventive/wellness care, care for chronic diseases, and care when you're sick. So what's different? First of all, access. When you get sick, we will work to address your problem that day or the very next day. You can communicate directly with me through your secure patient portal, phone, or when needed, home visits. Not everything has to happen in a clinic visit! Second, our community wants to learn more about how to experiencewellness. So we are going to explore health and wellness in a variety of ways, including sharing a library of resources, offering family visits, and group gatherings to learn together about cooking, nutrition, movement and many other topics. This will evolve as my practice grows, with continued feedback from my patients and our community.
I have adopted a reasonable, transparent monthly membership model in which patients pay a predictable monthly fee that covers all the care I provide (see Services and Membership). This will allow me to practice in alignment with my values and meet the needs of the community, without the limitations and expense associated with the for-profit insurance industry. There is a growing movement across the state and country of practices using this model to offer their patients the best access and high quality care with lower overall cost. Together we're joining a movement!
In the traditional system, most of the money you pay (65-75%) goes to pay the overhead of the clinic and the insurance company, not the doctor. When we remove that layer, the cost of running a clinic is less, and the care doesn't have to be so expensive. Paying a doctor directly, like we pay plumbers, lawyers, and farmers, is something we've done for centuries (until the insurance industry stepped in about 50 years ago). When we simplify the system, we remove the barriers between patients and their doctors and allow people to get the medical care they want when they need it. That is exactly what I am offering you.
